Common University Entrance Test 2024 has been revamped with some great changes for the upcoming aspirants for various undergraduate and graduate courses. The idea is to release the boards examination pressure from the students mind so that they can perform in an easier way. Pressure often adds to a lot of confusion and nervousness, which further hampers the way the student prepares and perform in the end.  In the last few years it has been noticed that an easy access to the internet and information has made life much easier for everyone. In this age students understand a particular topic way faster than to the previous years.

Earlier it was noticed that for all the knowledge you must refer to many books outside of your syllabus, also students spent hours sitting in the library clearing up their concepts. However with internet, social media, and various online applications for education; knowledge can be attained from many other sources than just books. This also had made the educationists to rethink the way of conducting syllabus for a particular course or subject is concerned. Hence there is a need a change of change and the common university entrance test is great example of such a change.

The exam pattern is mentioned very clearly in the notice issued by NTA on 26th March 2024, stating that the registration for CUET will take place from 2-04-2022 till 30-4-2022.

It also mentioned the exam structure/exam pattern and you can refer to it below:

  • Section 1- Language Test (13 languages)
  • Section 1 A- Languages (19 more languages)
  • Section B- Domain (27 subjects to choose from)
  • Section C- General Aptitude.

Under the Domain section, the syllabus will be strictly based on your class 12th Boards curriculum. The students must rigorously revise their 12th NCERT syllabus. As per NTA they are going include majorly class 12th subject however there are high possibilities that the syllabus of class 11th might come in the exam too. Students must do proper revision of class 12th syllabus and then they must move to the class 11th books for information.

  • The General Test Syllabus will include Mathematics, if you would like to refer to books you must go through the mathematics syllabus of class 10th. The topics will include Percentage, Profit & Loss, Simple & Compound Interest, Ratio & Proportions, Mixtures and allegations, Averages, Partnership, Number system, statistics, Linear & Quadratic, Time, Speed & Distance, Races & Games, time & work, Clocks & Calendars, mensuration, Geometry, Heights & Distances, Venn Diagram, a question of Logarithm is possible. Few more topics will also include Probability, Permutations & Combinations, Progressions, Trigonometry, Set Theory, Inequalities, and Coordinate Geometry.
  • Under Logical Reasoning, topics like Coding & Decoding, Symbol Based, Directions, Family Tree, Linear & Circular Arrangements, Complex Arrangements, Logical Puzzles, Series, Groups & Conditionality, Input-Output, Venn Diagram & Syllogism, Data Interpretation, Inequalities, critical reasoning may come in the exam.
  • Under Verbal Ability the subjects will include vocabulary, Foreign words, analogies, Articles, Idioms, Phrases, Grammar, colloquial Errors, Fill in the Blanks, Anagrams, Speech, Voice, Paragraph Jumbles, Reading Comprehensions.
  • Under General Awareness, the topics that may come in the exam are History, Geography, Economics, Indian Constitution, Science, and Current Affairs. It is considered that Current Affairs will always hold more weightage under the General Awareness section.

Please Note to refer to class 12th NCERT books for the entire syllabus under Domain section. Students may not need to refer to any other book as UGC has made it very specific that the exam syllabus will only and only include class 12th NCERT books.
