Eligibility Criteria for Data Science

Data Science is a fusion of mathematics, business acumen, tools, algorithms, and machine learning techniques, the combination of these helps us understand some hidden data patterns from raw data. Data Science is the study of the above-mentioned techniques, to simplify complex data provided to us. It is a widely used practice these days and used in almost every industrial sector.

Data Science is a part/specialization of computer science and IT branch in the study of engineering however many management students can also take up Data Science to enhance their management/leadership skills; it comes as a separate course too for working professionals. Many institutes these days provide a data science certification to working professionals or students of different streams and branches.

It is also considered as one of the highest paying career options in the world today, if an individual has learned the basics of data science also his or her value automatically increases in the data science field. However, studies reveal that studying data science and becoming proficient in it takes years for an individual. The salary/incomes of data scientists are on the number 2 list today right after medical doctors/surgeons across the world.

The Eligibility criteria for Btech students

Data Science is a specialization that comes under the Computer Science and Information Technology branch in Engineering. A student applying for these branches should have cleared their 10+2 from any recognized board, with their main subjects as physics, chemistry, Mathematics, and must have opted for computer science/ information technology in their optional subjects. A student is expected to attain a minimum of 45% in the above-mentioned subjects combined together for the General category, and 40% for a student belonging to the reserved category.

Usually, JEE ranking is considered mandatory for admission in Btech, however, now some universities are not necessarily looking for JEE attempt this year due to the current Covid-19 crisis in the world. Hence colleges are taking direct admissions based on 12th results.

Students Taking Lateral entry to Second Year

If a diploma student wants to take admission, directly in the second year the criteria remain the same as above but the institute should be AICTE approved.

Bachelor of Science graduates looking for admission in Btech should have passed their graduation with a minimum of 45% from the general category and 40% for students belonging to the reserved category. These
