JEE Main Exam 2024 Day Guidelines

JEE Main 2024 will be administered by the National Testing Agency (NTA) in January and April of 2024. The exam will be administered in two shifts, from 9 a.m. to 12 p.m. (morning shift) and 3 p.m. to 6 p.m. (evening shift), at various test centres across the country and abroad.

Candidates are advised to be relaxed and cheerful on the day of the exam and to give it their all. This will also help you avoid things on the final day that tend to raise your anxiety level. JEE Main is the first stage of the exams for engineering students hoping to get into the elite IITs; JEE Advanced is the second.

Guidelines for the JEE Main 2024 Exam Day

The following are the JEE Main exam day guidelines for the D-Day, which every candidate must follow:

  1. Candidates are advised to arrive at the venue by the reporting time specified on their JEE Main 2023 hall ticket.
  2. No candidates will be permitted to enter the JEE Main 2024 exam centre after the gate closes, and no candidates will be permitted to leave the exam centre premises before the exam concludes.
  3. Candidates wearing special religious attire are advised to arrive at the exam centres earlier in order to undergo thorough screening and mandatory frisking.
  4. The candidate must bring the JEE Main 2024 admit card, as well as all the documents required for JEE Mains, to the exam centre. The Centre Superintendent will not allow a candidate who does not have the NTA JEE Mains hall ticket 2024 to sit for the exam under any circumstances.
  5. Before arriving at the JEE Main exam centres, candidates must complete the self-declaration form, attach a passport-sized photograph, and place their left hand thumb impression in the space provided.
  6. Candidates must strictly adhere to the instructions given by the centre superintendent/invigilators.
  7. Candidates must maintain their social distance.
  8. Candidates should take their seats immediately after the examination hall doors open.
  9. The examination hall will have a pen/pencil and blank paper for rough work. At the top of their sheet, candidates must write their name and roll number. Before leaving the examination hall, this sheet must be returned to the invigilator.
  10. Candidates must complete the attendance sheet, sign it, and paste their photograph in the designated location.
  11. Candidates must make certain that their left thumb impression is clear and does not smudge on the attendance sheet.

Guidelines for PwD Candidates in JEE Main 2024

PwD candidates must bring a disability certificate in the format specified. For the use of a scribe, the candidate must present a valid certificate to the frisking staff. The instructions for obtaining a scribe for JEE Main 2023 are as follows:

  1. Candidates in the PwD category were required to state their disability category, type of disability, and percentage of disability. They must bring proof of disability that was filled out when taking the JEE Main exam. Failure to provide the required documentation may result in disqualification.
  2. Candidates who score 40% or higher will be eligible for the services of a scribe.
  3. The scribe was required to bring their Self Declaration (undertaking) regarding educational qualifications, passport size photograph, valid government identification, and self-declaration (Undertaking).
  4. PwD candidates were free to select their own scribe/reader.
  5. Candidates with disabilities were given an additional 60 minutes as compensatory time. Candidates with a 40% or higher can use this service, whether they have a scribe or not.

JEE Main 2024 COVID-19 Guidelines

  1. Standard Operating Procedures for safety and maintaining the required standard for hygiene will be implemented. Sanitation will be performed on the seating area, which includes the monitor, keyboard, mouse, webcam, desk, and chair. Furthermore, all door handles, stair railings, and lift buttons will be disinfected.
  2. Candidates must keep a distance of 6 feet between themselves. Outside of the centre, floor marks will be placed.
  3. If a candidate’s body temperature exceeds COVID-19 norms, he or she will be required to take the exam in a separate room.
  4. After sanitising their hands, candidates will be required to sign the attendance sheet.
  5. After displaying their JEE Main admit card and rough sheet to the invigilator, candidates must drop them in the box.

JEE Main Exam Guidelines 2024: What is the JEE Mains dress code?

Candidates wearing thick-soled shoes or wearing clothing with large buttons will be denied entry to the examination centre, according to the notification.

  • Candidates are not permitted to bring any metallic objects into the examination room. As a result, there should be no metal parts in the dress. They should not wear any jewellery, watches, or other gadgets or ornaments.
  • Face masks are required when leaving the house these days due to the pandemic. The authorities will, however, provide another mask to be worn during the JEE Main April session.

Things to bring to the exam hall:

Candidates taking the upcoming session of JEE Main will need to bring the following items to the exam hall:

  • JEE Main Admit Card 2024
  • Photograph in passport size (same as that on the admit card)
  • Photo identification issued by the government
  • Sanitizer for the hands (max 50ml)
  • Mask for the face
  • Hand cuffs
  • Water bottle that is transparent

JEE Main Instruction – Prohibited Items

A few items are not permitted in the JEE Main examination hall. Candidates found with the following items, on the other hand, were not permitted to take the examination

  1. Gadgets: Any candidate caught with electronic devices such as a calculator, electronic watch/smartwatch, or a mobile phone will be denied entry to the examination hall.
  2. Stationery: Candidates who bring stationery such as paper, geometry boxes, or pencil boxes will be barred from taking the exam. There is an exception for students taking B.Arch. exams.
  3. Personal items such as purses, handbags, earphones, and microphones are not permitted inside the examination hall.
  4. Cameras, tape recorders, metallic items such as metal bands, and karaoke are strictly forbidden.
  5. Tea, coffee, chips, and other snack items are not permitted in the examination hall. There is an exception for candidates with diabetes.

JEE Main Instructions for Diabetic Candidates

A special exception was made for candidates with diabetes. The diabetic candidates were permitted to carry the following items:

  1. If they require it, they can have fruits or snacks.
  2. Diabetes treatment medication.
  3. A water bottle that is clear or transparent.
  4. Packed foods such as potato chips, chocolate, sandwiches, and so on are also not permitted.

How Do You Record Attendance in JEE Main 2024?

JEE Main aspirants will be required to fill out an attendance sheet provided by the invigilator. They must sign the attendance sheet and leave their left-hand thumb impression. Candidates must also attach a coloured passport-sized photograph that matches the one on the application form. They must ensure that their left-hand thumb impression is clean and free of tattoos or henna (Mehendi).
