Students who are interested in arts and law can take an integrated undergraduate program offered by Guru Gobind Singh Indraprastha University. You learn arts and law subjects throughout 5 years and get a degree, then you can work in multiple fields according to your choice. Every university has an eligibility criteria, which students and parents need to check on the official website and also can get in touch with colleges who offer BA LLB courses. Earlier IPU CET LAW entrance examination was conducted for enrolling students in BA LLB. But now students need to register for CLAT – Common Law Admission Test and qualify in the exam. Scores or results of CLAT will be applicable to IPU CET. IPU conducts various rounds of counseling to enroll students in colleges according to their choice.
Eligibility Criteria for BA LLB
- Students should have completed 10+2 with good marks
- Students have to register and qualify for CLAT.
- CLAT scores will be applicable for IPU CET.
IPU Counseling Process
Students have to pay 1000 rupees to IPU for counseling. Students and parents should sit together and decide which colleges will be suitable for the student according to infrastructure, education, placements, ranking and many other factors. So finally students should have a list of shortlisted colleges in which they want to study BA LLB. Guru Gobind Singh Indraprastha University conducts 5 rounds of counseling for enrollment of students in colleges. There are five rounds of counseling – first round, second round, third round, fourth round and spot round. So basically students have to wait for allotment of the college in every round. If a student has been allotted a college, then they visit the college and decide whether they want to take admission in this college or not. If yes, then students freeze the seat and pay some amount of fee to IPU and then student is given a reporting date to visit the college and do the formalities. Students have to go for a campus tour, pay the remaining fee and submit documents and get the enrollment done. But if the student is not happy with the allotment of college, then the student has to wait for the next counseling round. This process goes on till the student feels that this is the best college for me and I can get my enrollment done. Spot round is conducted in the end, when colleges have vacant seats for BA LLB, then students get enrolled. This process takes time, it may take 1-2 months.
