CLAT stands for Common Law Admission Test. It is an All India Law Entrance Test. It is conducted every year on the second Sunday of May by 21 National Law Universities (NLUs) on rotation basis. It is an online exam which consists of 150 MCQs to be solved in 2 hours. There is no upper age limit for UG programme in CLAT. The question paper is divided into 5 sections: Verbal Ability, Mathematics, Logical Reasoning, General Awareness and Legal Aptitude. Each section should be focused equally to target top law colleges of the country. One must try to attempt all questions to target best law college or atleast be able to scan all the questions.
- There will be no upper age limit for UG Programme in CLAT 2022. As regards minimum percentage of marks in the qualifying examination (i.e., 10+2 or an equivalent examination), the candidates must have secured:
- Forty five percent (45%) marks or its equivalent grade in case of candidates belonging to General / OBC / PWD / NRI / PIO / OCI categories.
- Forty Percent (40%) marks or equivalent in case of candidates belonging to SC/ST categories.
- Candidates who are appearing in the qualifying examination in March/April, 2022 are also eligible to appear in CLAT 2022 examination. However, they shall be required to produce an evidence of their passing the qualifying examination at the time of admission, failing which they shall lose their right to be considered for admission.
- The result of the qualifying examination (i.e., 10+2) shall be submitted by the candidate at the time of admission failing which the candidate shall be ineligible for admission to the Course.
- In case of equal marks, the break of tie shall be by the following procedure and order as under: Higher marks in the component / section on legal aptitude in the CLAT 2022 exam; Higher age; and Computerized draw of lots.
Charles Darwin famously said, “Not the strongest, nor the most intelligent, but one who adapts to change will survive.” With the changing pattern of questions asked in CLAT, merely reading basic book, solving papers at home may not suffice. At least, not for those for whom CLAT is new or for those who have been unable to crack it.
The UG-CLAT 2022 shall be a 2-hour test, with 150 multiple-choice questions carrying 1 mark each. There shall be negative marking of 0.25 marks for every wrong answer. These questions would be divided across the following 5 subjects: English Language. It comprises of five sections namely: Verbal Ability, Quantitative Aptitude, Logical Reasoning, General Knowledge, and Legal Aptitude. Each question carries 1 mark and for every incorrect attempt, 0.25 marks will be deducted.
